DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rosario Scavelli, a part-time Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff who was fired after being arrested by federal agents, has been charged by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations in New York for producing and growing marijuana, Daily Voice has learned.

Scavelli was arrested on Thursday, according to Rachael Yong Yow, public affairs officer for U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement's New York Field Office. Scavelli is being prosecuted in Arizona.

Following his arrest, Scavelli, who had been with the sheriff's office since 2008, was terminated from his position in Dutchess.
