16-Year-Old Accused Of Firing Gun At Vehicle In Poughkeepsie

A 16-year-old boy has been charged for firing a gun at a vehicle in the area.

The incident happened in the area near 29 North Hamilton Street in the City of Poughkeepsie late Friday morning, Aug. 7. 

No one was injured and the vehicle was not hit.

A short time after the incident, the boy was located and arrested for firing at the vehicle. 

 Another teen, a 15-year-old who was with the 16-year-old at the time he was apprehended, was also arrested for having an active juvenile delinquent violation of probation Dutchess County Family Court warrant. 

 Officers transported both juveniles to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Juvenile Bureau for further investigation.

The shooting suspect was charged as an adolescent offender for committing attempted second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was remanded to a secure facility in Westchester County by the Dutchess County Youth Part Court Judge.

The 15-year-old was brought to Dutchess County Family Court and later remanded to the secure facility in Westchester County.

In furtherance of the investigation, the Regional Underwater Search and Recovery Team of Dutchess County searched a creek near 29 North Hamilton St. for any weapons discarded during the incident. No weapon was discovered during the search.
