POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Rosa Brooks, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, April 22. She was 65.
Born June 9, 1950, in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, she was the daughter of the late Hedley Brooks and Lola Garcia. She received her nursing degree in Nicaragua. She was employed by the Hyde Park Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church in Poughkeepsie. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Ana Tanisha Chavez and Ryan Brooks; siblings, Artie Brooks, Ralstan Brooks and Adela Garcia; grandchildren, Tashawn Canada, Marlon Brooks Jr., Jhaytem Canada, Tyler Brooks and Leyla Brooks; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Brooks; and great-grandson, Dayvion Spraggins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Marlon Brooks Sr.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church, 14 S. Bridge Street, Poughkeepsie. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc., Poughkeepsie.
