WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – Linda (Laffin) Manzo, 58, of Wappingers Falls, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 in her home.
Born Sept. 22, 1957, and raised in Wappingers Falls, she was the third child of the late Robert Laffin and Barbara (Parker) Laffin.
The mother of three children, she was predeceased by her husband Paul Manzo.
Manzo attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School and was employed for 38 years by IBM in Poughkeepsie.
She married her husband Sept. 2, 1978, at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls.
She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren and cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She enjoyed doing home improvement projects and always was purchasing the latest tools and gadgets. She worked with her hands on various home repairs, sometimes still dressed up in a skirt and heels. She joked she would never make it to the end of a movie without falling asleep. She was notorious for her yearround Christmas decorations (yes, they’re still up). Most of all, her friends and family will always remember her for her kind spirit, strength, and self-sacrificing generosity.
She is survived by her children Lisa (Ben) Patterson of Wappingers Falls, PJ (Stephanie) Manzo of Glenville, Michael (Dena) Manzo of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren Cecilia, Keira and Veronica; sisters and brothers Rene (Steve) Ridge, Tim (Wanda) Laffin, Larry (Shirley) Laffin, Rhonda Laffin (Wendy VanVlack), Keith Laffin (Ed Bakter) and Debby (Reed) Swenson; in-laws Linda Sarubbi, Debra (Joe) Giannatasio, Sal (Theresa) Manzo; mother-in-law, Doris Manzo; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Delahanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or a charity of your choice.
