Helen Agnes Knippler, 80, Of Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Helen Agnes Knippler, 80, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, Sept. 11. She was 80.

She was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Brooklyn. She worked in the banking business for many years and served as the head teller for Manufacturers Hanover Trust at its location in Flatbush. She served the community in many ways, such as volunteering for the P.T.A., Mother’s Club and St. Francis Hospital. She loved spending time in Newport, R.I., where she and her husband visited regularly the past 40 years. She also enjoyed sailing on the Hudson River, and she and her husband were Life Members of Chelsea Yacht Club in Chelsea. 

She is survived by her husband, Art; sons, Arthur C. Knippler and his wife Bernadette and Robert J. Knippler and his wife Katherine; granddaughter, Katie Knippler; step-grandson, David Kloepfer; and two sisters, Geraldine Ferry and Jane Fairbrother. 

She was predeceased by an infant son, Russell P. Knippler.

Calling hours will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc., 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St., Fishkill. The family will then depart for a private interment service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
