POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – E. Lloyd James, of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, May 26, at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Staatsburg. He was 86.
He was born on Jan. 11, 1930, in Poughkeepsie to Robert F. and Ella M. James..
He worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. He also was a truck driver for Axton-Cross until his retirement. He was a member of Teamsters Local 445. He was an avid railroad hobbyist. For over 20 years, he owned and operated a motor car speeder and traveled over many host railroads through the United States and Canada.
On March 1, 1953, he married Betty Jean Cypher at St. Paul's Church in Poughkeepsie.
Survivors include his children, Karen (Robert) Avery of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; Deborah L. James of Hyde Park; William L. James of Poughkeepsie; Cathy Miranda of Poughkeepsie; Brian (Krystle) James of Clinton Corners; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His wife died in 2008, after 55 years of marriage.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, from 5-8 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
Memorial donations can be made in his name to the Children's Home, 10 Children's Way, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601; or a charity of one's choice.
