Angie M. Smith, Of Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Angie M. Smith, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, March 28.

She was born Angelina Marie Morreale, in Brooklyn to Josephina and Paul Morreale. At age 7, she moved with her family to Poughkeepsie.

She attended Arlington schools and graduated at the top of her class from the Krissler Business Institute, which landed her a job with IBM. She then worked at Vassar College. After retirement as the college president’s executive assistant, she brought her talents to the FDR Library. She finally retired at age 84 from the Dutchess County Economic Development Corp. She received honors from every position she held. She volunteered at many places, including the St. Francis Hospital emergency room and gift shop, the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and the Stonebridge condo board.

She is survived by her children, Douglas P. Smith and Lorna Stevens-Smith, Joanne Smith Manginelli and Michael Grappone, Susan E. Smith, and Angela and Chris Tesari; her stepdaughter, Diane and her husband John Rumble; her sisters-in-law, Mary Morreale and Anne Morreale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Robert Smith; her son Robert; her brothers, Silvio, Pat and Mario Morreale; and her sister-in-law, Mary Morreale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie, on Saturday, April 23, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Services will be under the direction of the Parmele Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the American Heart Association.
