POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- United Way of the Dutchess-Orange region is doing what it can to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
On Tuesday, UPS sent a team of volunteers to United Way's Poughkeepsie office to pick up 8,815 pounds of items donated to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
The donations will be delivered by UPS Freight directly to the Texas organizations. The Texas Diaper Bank will be receiving 950 pounds of donations and Feeding Texas’ designee, the Houston Food Bank, will be receiving 7,865lbs of donated items.
To date, $7,026.00 has been received to purchase needed supplies for survivors of Hurricane Harvey.
“We are truly humbled by the outpouring of donations from the community that filled every room on the first floor of our Poughkeepsie building,” said Jeannie Montano, President & CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. "We are inspired by our community’s response to help our Texan neighbors and friends."
