POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y. -- Young readers can get some four-legged help in May at the LaGrange Library where Joan O' Neill and her canine reading partner Lucy are offering reading sessions in May.

On May 12 and May 26, 15-minute reading sessions are available in the Children's Room of the library, 488 Freedom Plains Road, Poughkeepsie.

Seven sessions are available on both days, starting at 3 p.m. and continuing through 4:30 p.m. To register, visit the library's website or call (845)-452-3141.

Library officials say the program, Canine Book Nook, offers children a chance to read in a fun and no-stress environment. O'Neill is a volunteer with Therapy Dogs International, officials said.

Children are encouraged to bring their favorite books.
