POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie is pushing to clear out abandoned buildings in the city. In light of this goal, Mayor Rob Rolison has established a Neighborhood Stabilization Team to help identify properties in the city that need help, according to a story on twcnews.com.

He said 11 properties are going to be inspected and cleared out in the next few weeks, twcnews.com said.

According to Second Ward Councilman Mike Young, Poughkeepsie has over 700 abandoned properties, twcnews.com said.

Rolison explained owners who have abandoned their properties will be financially responsible for cleaning them up. Once the properties are cleaned, Rolison and his team hope the homes will go back on the market to be resold or redeveloped, twcnews.com said.
