Car Crashes Into Train On Tracks In East Rockaway, Suspending Lirr Service

At least one person was injured when a car plowed into a train in East Rockaway, causing a service nightmare for commuters.

The crash took place around 3:38 p.m. at Forest Avenue and Rocklyn Avenue, said the Nassau County Police.

Police said a driver hit a train, but were still at the scene and did not have much information regarding the extent of injuries.

According to the Long Island Railroad, westbound service on the Long Beach branch is suspended in both directions between Lynbrook and Long Beach.

Eastbound service has been restored.
