Battle Of The Books Gets Under Way At Beacon's Howland Library

BEACON, N.Y. – Howland Public Library in Beacon is launching its annual Battle of the Books for the summer.

The program pits various Mid-Hudson Valley libraries against each other in a trivia contest about the books they've read over the summer.

Entering its eleventh year, Beacon has won the competition three times, including last year. Middle school students meet once a week to discuss what they've read and answer questions about each book.

Beacon annually faces off against teams from Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Cold Spring.
