POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Dreaming Goddess in Poughkeepsie just fulfilled a little dream of its own. The store, in Poughkeepsie for 20 years, recently expanded next door, practically doubling the space.

Owner Rhianna Mirabello said the decision to grow unfolded organically, and quickly, in response to the needs of the store's customers and the incredible nature of timing.

"As a whole, a greater interest from our customers and a connection to the use of crystals and gemstones has been growing," she said. "More and more new faces appear in our shop daily and at our monthly Tea & Stones lecture. When the space next door became available, it was at the absolute perfect timing; it felt almost serendipitous."

With this expansion -- the official opening was Friday, April 8 -- Mirabello said she is able to offer a wider selection of stones and crystal specimens. She was also able to create an open, relaxing and inviting space that she believes showcases the natural magic of these stones, allowing guests to easily view and connect with the pieces. The store will host its Tea & Stones gathering and Herbal Magic nights in the new space, making them more easily accessible.

Events are a large part of what Dreaming Goddess does. Customers will find monthly Reiki Share for Reiki practitioners, Full and New Moon circles, and a new Herbal Magic class, along with a Tarot Wisdom Gathering and a new monthly Shamanic Drum Circle led by David Beck.

Mirabello said the secret to her success comes down to the focus of the store she crated so many years ago, which is staying connected to the community.

"By providing a welcoming environment, a variety of products to inspire, enjoy, and aid in personal growth; by having a staff that loves what they do and providing quality customer service and working to create a positive experience for all that come in the door; by providing classes, gatherings and services to facilitate personal development, expansion and awareness – all these aspects combine with the growing and shifting needs of our community work together in an interconnected way," she said.
