State's $8.7M Will Cover Repaving Of Area Highways Impacted By Extreme Weather
Several highways in the region are set to undergo major facelifts thanks to millions of dollars in new state funding. Eight state highways in Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Greene counties will be repaved at a cost of $8.7 million, Gov. Kathy Hochul said. Man Stabs 33-Year-Old Near Shuttered Church In Region, Runs From Cops, Police Say
A 49-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly stabbing another man multiple times near a shuttered church in the region. Emergency crews in Albany were called at around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, for a stabbing near Central Avenue and Robin Street. The incident happened just steps from the Blessed Hope Worship Center, which is now listed as permanently closed. Trapped Driver Rescued After Crashing Car Into House In Putnam County
A person had to be rescued after crashing into a Hudson Valley home and becoming trapped inside, officials said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Nov. 29 around 12:30 p.m., when a vehicle careened into a home in Brewster, according to the Carmel Fire Department. Arriving firefighters soon found that a sedan had crashed into the home on Carmel Avenue, injuring the driver and causing them to become trapped inside their car. A 73-year-old man from the region is facing federal charges after allegedly sexually abusing a young girl who was in his care. Albany County resident Daniel Fuino, of Slingerlands, was indicted on multiple counts of sexual exploitation in Albany federal court in November 2023. Lane Closures: Stretch Of I-684 To Be Affected For Month
A stretch of Interstate 684 in Northern Westchester is set to be affected by a series of upcoming midday lane closures for a month. Interstate 684 between Exit 6 (Route 35) in Lewisboro and Exit 8 (Hardscrabble Road) in North Salem will be reduced to one lane in both directions on weekdays between Wednesday, Nov. 29, and Thursday, Dec. 28, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. The lane reduction will be put into effect between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each weekday, officials said. The reduction will allow crews to perform aerial cable replacements.

14-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Self At Apartment Complex In Region
A 14-year-old boy is recovering after apparently shooting himself at an apartment complex in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened Sunday, Nov. 26, in Rensselaer, at the Kinwood Apartments located on Chase Drive. According to Rensselaer Police, the boy walked into Albany Medical Center Hospital at around 7:45 p.m. with an apparent gunshot wound.
