A teen was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in the area.

The incident took place around 2:36 p.m., Thursday, March 4 on Route 44 near the intersection of Hornbeck Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, Captain Michael O'Dowd said.

According to O'Dowd, the crash took place when a 39-year-old town of Poughkeepsie woman collided with a 17-year-old male while crossing the roadway.

The teen sustained apparent serious physical injuries and was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital to treat his injuries, O'Dowd said.

The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted at the scene by members of the Arlington Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services.

State Route 44 was closed while the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit investigated and processed the scene.

The roadway was reopened to all traffic around 6:05 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking any witnesses to the collision to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.
