Suspect On Loose After Threatening To Use Explosives During Wappinger Bank Robbery, Police Say

A suspect is on the loose after a noontime bank robbery in the area.

The robbery occurred at approximately 11:52 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Trustco Bank on Route 9 near Myers Corners Road in the town of Wappinger, according to state police.

An investigation revealed a white man dressed in all black, with a black umbrella, and ski mask entered the bank and threatened the use of an explosive device to gain access to the vault, and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing. If anyone has possible information regarding this incident they are asked to please contact the New York State Police at 845- 677-7300.
