Covid-19: Here's Brand-New Breakdown Of Orange County Cases By Community

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Orange County remained up near 3,000 as the Hudson Valley continues contending with the second surge of the virus.

Orange County health officials are monitoring 2,836 active COVID-19 cases as of Monday, Jan. 25 after seeing the number drop below 2,500 during the middle of last week.

Earlier this month, the number of active cases topped 3,500 as the region dealt with the "post-holiday" surge of the virus following gatherings and celebrations of family and friends.

The state Health Department was reporting 257 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

There have now been 29,753 COVID-19 confirmed positives reported in Orange County out of more than 445,000 tests administered, according to the Department of Health.

There are currently 163 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Orange County, with four under investigation with possible infections,

The overall positive infection rate in Orange County held steady at 6.6 percent, among the highest rates in the Hudson Valley.

Five new COVID-19 fatalities were reported over the weekend in the county as the virus-related death toll climbed to 661.

  • Mount Hope: 36;
  • Tuxedo: 31;
  • Greenville: 29;
  • Hamptonburgh: 27;
  • Palm Tree: 27.

There were 219,538 COVID-19 tests administered in New York on Jan. 24, according to Cuomo, resulting in 12,003 positive cases for a 5.47 percent positive infection rate, which has been on the decline.

There are now 8,730 COVID-19 patients hospitalized across the state, while more than 1,500 are in ICU, and 1,005 are intubated with the virus. There were 165167 new COVID-19-related deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

Statewide, there have been 1,326,987 confirmed COVID-19 cases in New York out of 30.54 tested. There have been 34,069 virus-related deaths reported since the pandemic began.
