SOMERS, N.Y. Somers High School will be alive with activity Saturday when the Tuskers cheer team will host the 1st Annual Somers Cheer Invitational, which will include cheer teams from others schools, vendors, raffles and door prizes.
According to team volunteer Darilyn Pietrangolare, the cheerleading team is working very hard in pulling together their first cheerleading event and the cheerleaders cant wait to represent our school and community at this Fall Section 1 competition.
The sport of cheerleading is currently being considered by Section 1 (local public schools administration) and the New York State Public Schools as a competitive fall sport. Local high schools are hosting competitions this fall in lieu of that possibility.
The 2010-2011 Somers team is coached by Kristina Valente-Aiyegbo and Lauren Rea and includes; Nicole Reznick, Amy Pietrangolare, Micaela Formisano, Julia Evans, Nicole Iantorno, Ashley Farewell, Kristyn Hatley, Savannah Lobo, Samantha Carlisto, Elizabeth Syso, Christine Morano, Brianna Dinuzzi, Alexa Kennedy, Tori Colarossi, Jenn Giacobbe, Sydney Lasar, Antonia Lazzarra, Natalie Partenza, Nicole De Angelis, Amber Farewell, Gabby Guadalupe, Kaela Rippon, Margaux Neborak, Leanne Gregoras, Catherine Ponsrock, Marisa Ferro and Gabby Scottino.
