SOMERS, N.Y. – Volunteer students and members of the Somers High School staff will make their second pilgrimage to an area ravaged by Hurricane Sandy in order to distribute donations, water, food and supplies, and to help families clean their properties.

The first delegation from Somers High School, a group of about 70 students, parents and staff members, spent Saturday, Nov. 10, assisting residents in Belle Harbor, Queens.

The second trip will take place Saturday, Dec. 1, when a group will visit Far Rockaway. This time it will work directly with children whose day care center was destroyed during the storm. The Somers group will also serve hot food to area residents.

The group will convene at Somers High School at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to load supplies and food donated by local businesses. For more information, contact Mark Bayer, Principal at www.MBayer@somersschools.org.
