SOMERS, N.Y. -- When it comes to the environment, fourth-grader Julia Schmidberger believes, "You can't change the past, but you can change the future."
Schmidberger is the winner of Sen. Terrence Murphy's (R-Yorktown) 2017 Earth Day Poster Contest for grades K-6. Schmidberger put her slogan on a poster, part of the contest's theme, "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle."
"I feel so positive and proud that I won," Schmidberger, who attends Somers Intermediate School, said. "I worked really hard on this and my mom helped me so much, so I am dedicating my win to her."
