Woman, 18, Fatally Shot In Westchester

A teenager was killed in an early morning shooting at a busy intersection in Westchester.

An 18-year-old was struck shortly before 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, near the intersection of Lake and Morningside avenues in Yonkers, police said. The woman was struck in the head and died at an area hospital.

According to investigators, no arrests have been made, and the weapon used in the incident has not been recovered. Reports state that the woman lived in the area and may have been going to work at the time she was shot.

Prior to the shooting, two groups of people reportedly got into an altercation, which quickly escalated, when someone displayed a gun. Only one shot was fired, which fatally struck the teenager.

According to PIX11, the teenager that was killed was identified by friends and family as Marilyn Cotto Montanez, an 11th grader at Lincoln High School. Grief counselors have reportedly been made available for students in the wake of the shooting.

It is not believed that the teenager was involved in the incident and was an innocent victim. Check Daily Voice for updates.
