The blaze, which was so intense it required some 100 firefighters, was reported around 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, at 1847 Crompond Road, in Peekskill.

The Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, who also responded to the fire, said the fire was so intense and massive that embers from it were found throughout various areas of the city, including melting some items in a neighbor's yard.

At the same time, the department was receiving multiple 911 calls to report the blaze and from residents concerned about the massive blaze, they added.

Besides cold temperatures, a lack of water pressure in the area required the Peekskill Fire Department to call in tankers to supplement the water supply.

During the fire, Crompond Road was closed in both directions.

The ambulance corps had two units on the scene, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Firefighters are still on the scene monitoring the fire on Monday, Dec. 9.

In addition to the Peekskill Fire Department, members from at least 19 other departments responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
