State Police Investigating Route 100 Death Of Somers Man

SOMERS, N.Y. – The cause of death of a 60-year-old Somers man, who was found collapsed on the side of Route 100 in Somers early Monday morning, is being further investigated, state police said.

Police are asking for anyone who may have seen the incident or stopped at the scene to call 914-277-3177.

Police identified the victim as Frank L. Katz, of Adams Farm Road. He was walking to the Goldens Bridge train station on the northbound shoulder of Route 100 around 6:30 a.m. when it is believed he collapsed due to an unknown medical condition, police said.

Katz was observed lying on the shoulder of the roadway by passing motorists who subsequently contacted 911. There was no evidence to indicate he was struck by a motor vehicle, police said.

Katz was taken by ambulance to Putnam Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead. Route 100 was closed for a short time after the incident, police said.
