Four people were hospitalized after a crash involving a car and school bus just as school was letting out at Mahopac High School.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Rescue, EMS and Fire Police were dispatched, along with EMStar paramedics and multiple PCSO units already on the scene at the Baldwin Place Road entrance of the high school for a car vs. bus accident with injuries, said Jack Casey of the Mahopac Falls Fire Department.

Chief Brian Sacher arrived on the scene and assumed Incident Command, while Lt. Loprieno took charge of operations and Firefighter Jason Stasiak coordinated students to be checked at the school nurse.

Fire Police and school administrators closed Baldwin Place Road at Muscoot Drive while SRO Paul Maglietta, PCSO and Deputy Dallo, PCSO K-9 officer took charge of traffic heading toward the high school.

Mahopac School Superintendent Anthony DeCarlo arrived on the scene, as did Assistant Transportation Supervisor Steve Troost to coordinate and mobilize resources and people, if needed.

A total of 24 people, including the driver from the bus, were brought to the high school nurse for evaluation. All were triaged, treated and released. The four occupants of the car were transported to a local hospital, two by Mahopac Falls ambulance and two by EMStar paramedics.
