SOMERS, N.Y. -- On Wednesday at approximately 11:15 p.m. Michael Chapins, 46, of Yorktown was stopped by New York State Police on Route 118 in Somers.
Police said that Chapins was speeding on his motorcycle at a speed of approximately 104 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. Police said that a subsequent investigation revealed that Chapins was intoxicated, although he refused the chemical test.
Chapins was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and was remanded to the Westchester County Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on March 12 at 5 p.m.
