SOMERS, N.Y. - Spring cleaning, organizing and magic are among the events planned this weekend in Somers.
Friday, April 20
Somers Roadside Cleanup: All day. This is the final weekend of the Somers Roadside Cleanup campaign. Pick a road or clean up along your property line and leave the plastic bag along the road. Sign up on the Somers website so the Highway Department will be sure to pick up your bag of litter.
Little Farmers at Muscoot: 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Muscoot invites children ages 3 and 4 to learn about animals in a hands-on experience. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $10 per person. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.
SEPTA Magic Show: 6:15 p.m. - 9 p.m. The Somers Special Education PTA (SEPTA) will hold its second annual magic show in the Somers High School auditorium. Therell be a strolling magician, face painters, carnival games, a bounce house and more. Proceeds benefit SEPTA. Tickets are $8 at the door. Somers High School is at 120 Primrose St. in Lincolndale.
"Into the Woods": Spotlight Theater Productions presents Stephen Sondheim's hit musical at The Schoolhouse Theater. Performances are on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The Schoolhouse Theater is located at 3 Owens Road in Croton Falls.

AFP Volunteer Day: 10 a.m. Its time for spring cleaning, so drop by the Angle Fly Preserve and spend a few hours helping to clear the paths and neaten things up. Meet at the entrance to the Preserve located on Primrose Street in Somers.
Somers Earth Day Celebration: 10 a.m. noon. Somers Energy Expo, Somers Municipal Lighting Project and Somers Climate Action Plan are just a few projects you will learn about at this Earth Day celebration. You will also have a chance to hear the winning sustainability essay contest winners from Somers Middle School and witness the hard launch of the new EnergizeSomers program. The event takes place at the Somers Town House at 335 Route 202.
Disney Movies For Earth Day: Learn about our planet by watching two free movies at the Somers Library. Disneys Earth will be screened at 10:30 a.m. and Oceans will be shown at 3:30 p.m. There is no need to register. The Somers Library is located in Reis Park on Primrose Street.
Somers Volunteer Fire Department Recruitment Open House: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Somers VFD needs you! This open house is being held in conjunction with the state wide recruitment program from FASNY (Firefighters Association of the State of New York) RecruitNY. There will be tours of the apparatus and the fire house along with some minor hands on activities. The event takes place on both Saturday and Sunday. For more information call 914-248-5604. Why Smart Women Get Stuck Organizing: 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. If you never seem to be able to get everything organized no matter how much effort you put into it, come and learn about the pitfalls and shortcuts from Somers expert Andrea Deinstadt. Please register in person or online. There is no charge. The event is at the Somers Library in Reis Park on Primrose Street.
Caroline Doctorow in Lake Purdys: 6 p.m. The Westchester Bluegrass Club presents singer/songwriter Caroline Doctorow along with The Steamrollers. Doors open at 6 p.m., the jam session starts at 7 p.m., open mic begins at 8 p.m. and the featured artist is on at 9 p.m. Admission is $10. For more information email email@example.com. Somers Newcomers and Neighbors Brunch: Noon. Members of the Newcomers and Neighbors Club as well as those interested in joining are welcome to attend a brunch at Lasdon Park.
