Somers 7-Eleven Giving out Free Slurpees on 7/11

SOMERS – It’s 7/11 and 7-Eleven stores are handing out free Slurpees to celebrate.

The parking lot was packed Monday at the Somers 7-Eleven on Route 100.

"This is scrumptious," said Sam Goldfarb, 17, as he slurped his mixture of five layered flavors.

Joseph M. Tevere, 18, limited himself to two flavors, blue raspberry and cherry. Kristina Gagliardi, working on a straight cherry Slurpee, called it "very tasty." They were all from Somers and rushed right over after learning about the giveaway on Twitter.

“Read about it here and stopped for free slurpees,” Diane Barnett Parks wrote on The Daily Somers’ Facebook page. " Perfect on a hot summer day."

Slurpees come in many flavors. The Somers 7-Eleven offered Watermelon-Lime, Banana, Whoopee Berries, Coca-Cola, Blue Raspberry and Wild Cherry.

The Somers 7-Eleven will be open until midnight, doling out free Slurpees to all comers.
