Bernice Henry, 76, Somers Nurse

SOMERS, N.Y. – Bernice M. Henry of Somers died April 18. She was 76.

She was born Nov. 3, 1935 in Yonkers to the late Robert John Paulson and Bernice LaSota. Henry graduated from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in New York. Employed by St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers, she later worked at Andrus Nursing Home in Hastings-on-Hudson.  

On Sept. 29, 1956, she married Edward R. Henry. Remembered by family for her thoughtfulness and warmth, she loved knitting and bowling. 

Henry is survived by her husband, Edward; five sons, Edward Henry Jr., of Katonah, Robert Henry, of Mahopac, N.Y., Kevin Henry, of Carmel, N.Y., David Henry of Bangor, Pa. and Brian Henry, of Briarcliff Manor; four daughters-in-law Cathy, Deborah, Kathy and Despina and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert, who died in the Korean War. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Croton Falls. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
