SOMERS, N.Y. -- Jerry Lanning, currently portraying legendary playwright Eugene O'Neill in "And Give Us the Shadows" at the Schoolhouse Theater in Croton Falls, recently fainted on stage during a performance but is persevering to continue the role, according to "The New York Times."

Lanning, 70, fainted in an Oct. 18 performance, but delivered his line right before falling to the stage so convincingly, only his co-star knew something was wrong.

Lanning originated the role of Patrick Dennis in the original Broadway production of "Mame" in 1966 alongside Angela Lansbury.
