SOMERS, N.Y. -- Acclaimed voice actor Alan Sklar will give a live reading of his favorite short story by Ernest Hemingway, "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber" at the Somers Library.
The event is from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 in the library's program room, Route 139 & Reis Park.
First published in the September 1936 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, the story is said to be one of Hemingway's most successful artistic achievements, largely due to the ambiguous complexity of its characters and their motivations.
