The crash happened around 6:47 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, on Lake Road near Orchard Hill Road and Lakewood Drive, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department said on Wednesday, May 7.

When Somers Fire and EMS arrived, they found a single car flipped over, blocking both directions of traffic. The driver was trapped inside, officials said.

Emergency crews quickly went to work to pull the patient from the vehicle. The driver was successfully freed and received medical attention at the scene.

Fire crews remained on site for about an hour and a half before clearing the area and restoring traffic flow.

The rollover was the most serious of three motor vehicle accidents Somers crews responded to that day, the department said.
