Westchester native Kevin Shattenkirk and several of his New York Ranger teammates ditched sticks and pucks for frisbees and Kan Jam to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

Shattenkirk, a New Rochelle native, was joined by several of his teammates on Saturday, Feb. 9 for a full-day Kan Jam tournament at House of Sports in Ardsley to raise money for children affected by cancer.

At the second annual Kevin Shattenkirk Kancer Jam presented by Mustang Harry’s, the defenseman raised more than $140,000 to benefit the Children's Hospital At Montefiore and The Garden Of Dreams Foundation via the Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation.

Several New York Rangers, including Neal Pionk, Jesper Fast, Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, Brady Skjei, Shattenkirk, Adam McQuaid, Jimmy Vesey, Brett Howden,  Cristoval Nieves, Ryan Strome ,Vladislav Namestnikov, Pavel Buchnevich ,Tony DeAngelo, Kevin Hayes and Alexandar Georgie were all at the event, donating $25,000 on behalf of Mustang Harry’s.

To date, the Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation has raised more than $1 million to help children with cancer. Last year’s inaugural Kevin Shattenkirk Kancer Jam raised nearly $100,000.

The "Shatty Cup" was presented to the champions of the 2nd Annual Kevin Shattenkirk Kancer Jam, Kevin Gallagher and his 9-year-old son, Johnny, who were teamed up with Skjei.

“This is the highest grossing Kancer Jam we have ever had,” Jam Kancer in the Kan Foundation founder Jamey Crimmins said at the event. “Shatty Jam II raised over $140,000 for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and The Garden Of Dreams Foundation. The success of this year’s fundraising exceeded Shattenkirk’s expectations.”
