KINGSTON, R.I. Two former Scarsdale students graduated May 20 from the University of Rhode Island, along with nearly 3,000 other undergraduate and 738 graduate students.
Sarah-Rose Marcus received her bachelor of arts degree in communications studies, graduating summa cum laude. Students who graduate with such a distinction have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.7.
Vanessa Thorn received a bachelor of science degree in textiles, fashion merchandising and design.
Author and human-rights attorney Marlen Suyapa Bodden spoke at the ceremony. Honorary degrees were awarded to Amy DeVaudreuil, Col. Philip J. Saulnier and Shivan Subramaniam. It was the 126th commencement at the University of Rhode Island.
