SCARSDALE, N.Y. - The Scarsdale School District is urging parents not to wait until the Sept. 6 deadline to register incoming kindergarteners or transfer students for the coming school year.
All of the school buildings will remain open throughout the summer to accept registrations. The district says early registration helps staff plan for the upcoming year.
Aside from proof of residency (some homes have a Scarsdale mailing address, but are not within the Scarsdale School District,) parents will need proof of the childs age and immunization record.
Parents can call the district at (914) 721-2444 to verify if they are in the school district.
School records are not required, but are helpful. The district will conduct individual evaluations for placement.
A child whose fifth birthday falls on or before Dec. 31 may register for kindergarten. Registration in one of the five elementary schools is determined by the neighborhood in which you live.
Parents or Guardians need to call the secretary of that school for a registration packet. More information can be found at http://www.scarsdaleschools.k12.ny.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=374
