Education Report To Be Presented To Scarsdale School Board

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Scarsdale Union Free School District Board of Education will make its annual stop at Greenacres Elementary School on Monday for its regular bimonthly meeting.

The annual visit provides the board an opportunity to meet with parents of Greenacres pupils to address questions and concerns. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m., prior to the 8 p.m. regular business meeting, at which time the board will receive a report titled "World Class Teaching for World Class Learning." The report will be presented by a panel scheduled to include Superintendent Michael McGill, Assistant Superintendent Joan Weber, Assistant Superintendent Lynne Shain, Scarsdale Teachers Institute (STI) Executive Director Susan Taylor, Assistant STI Director Kenneth Holvig, who is also head computer teacher at Scarsdale Middle School, Scarsdale Teachers Association President Trudy Moses and Frank Smith, professor at Columbia University Teachers College.

The board is also expected to act on the annual district audit and other routine matters.

The audit will be the subject of a 6 p.m. meeting, also at Greenacres, when the board, sitting as the audit committee, meets with outside auditors. The meeting is open to the public. After that meeting, the board expects to go into executive session, closed to the public, for a brief meeting. Another executive session to discuss personnel matters is expected after the 8 p.m. meeting.
