Police: Sex Offender Moves To Scarsdale-Eastchester Border

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A Level 3 sex offender has moved into a home on Lee Avenue, near the Scarsdale-Eastchester border, Eastchester Police confirmed.

According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Josef C. Reutershan, 47, was convicted of three felonies Aug. 11, 2009. He was found guilty of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age, disseminating indecent material to minors and possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age, police said.

He was sentenced to serve one to three years in state prison.

Reutershan’s victim was a 15-year-old boy with whom he had no previous relationship, according to police. He was released in 2011 and spent time in Valhalla before making his way to Scarsdale.

A Level 3 offender carries the highest risk to repeat his crimes, police said. Both the Eastchester and Scarsdale police departments have circulated fliers to the community, including schools, churches and other vulnerable populations, to warn them a sex offender is living there.

Reutershan is listed at 6-foot-3-inches and weighs about 250 pounds. His brown hair is turning grey and he has brown eyes. He has tattoos on his back, both arms and his left leg. He also has gone by the alias Jose Reutershan.
