Enrico led the charge in Westchester-based PepsiCo's battle with Coca-Cola during the 1980s.
He attended Babson College, served in the U.S. Navy, then worked as a brand manager in 1971 for Frito-Lay, a PepsiCo subsidiary.
In 1983, at 38, he became the chief executive of Pepsi-Cola USA before being named chief executive and chairman of PepsiCo in 1996.
In 1997, he spun off Pepsi's restaurant division, consisting of the Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut chains, creating what is now known as Yum Brands.
In 1998, he oversaw the company's acquisition of Tropicana and, in 2000, Quaker Oats, which included Gatorade.
Enrico retired from PepsiCo in 2001 before being named chairman of DreamWorks Animation, having that title from 2004-12.
Enrico is survived by his wife, Rosemary; son, Aaron; and three grandchildren.
