SCARSDALE, N.Y. - Suzi Lee, co-owner of Wilmot Cleaners in the Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center, cares about her employees, customers and the environment. That is why she bought an organic dry cleaning machine.
We want to take care of the environment. I have a kid so I am thinking about it, said Lee. It is also better for my employees and my customers.
The green dry cleaning system uses a biodegradable, non-toxic solution which Lee said is healthier for her customers and employees and do not produce an odor which benefits the employees working in the store and the customers who get odorless clothing back.
There is 100 percent no smell, said Lee
Lee also said the green-chemicals are gentler on clothing - preserving colors and ornamental elements of the clothing better than the old, non-green dry cleaning system.
Although Lee said she spent $100,000 on the organic dry cleaning system, the cost to dry clean at Wilmot Cleaners has not gone up.
Customers like it and many people come in to ask about it, said Lee.
Wilmot Cleaners is also happy to have customers bring back plastic dry cleaning bags and hangers.
Many people bring two bags full of plastic and hangers, said Lee. Lee said though all hangers and bags are not in good enough condition to reuse they do reuse as much as they can.
