Visitors were able to browse and sample from more than 50 restaurants, bakeries and breweries from all of southern Westchester and to discover new favorites. There were also several family activities, music courtesy of acts such as DJ Zap Music, the B Street Band, and Joe D'Urso and Stone Caravan. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefited charities such as the Food Bank for Westchester, Why Hunger, the Don Bosco Community Center and the Greyston Foundation.
"It's really good for the neighborhood, It gets everyone out of the house," said Dan Choe of Numu Steakhouse, a new Korean barbecue restaurant opening soon in Scarsdale. As he and his mother handed out samples of steak, he said that the event was a good opportunity for a new restaurant like his to introduce himself to the community.
"We wanted to meet the local people and see their interest. We don't want to give away too much of the menu, but expose people to Korean food a bit."
There were also book signings and cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs like Rafael Palomino, David Burke and Ken Arnone. Burke showed those who attended how to make dishes such as a watermelon salad with aged beef and soft shell crabs wrapped in pancakes.
