Scarsdale Voters to Choose Trustees Tuesday

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale residents will have the opportunity Tuesday to fill three available seats on the Village Board of Trustees.

The village election will be from 6-9 a.m. and noon to 9 p.m. in the Scott Room at the Scarsdale Library. 

There also is an unopposed election for Village Justice. Incumbent John H. Galloway III, who has served in the position since 1996, has been nominated for re-election as the Scarsdale Citizens Non-Partisan Party candidate. The term is four years and the position comes with a salary of $74,365.

Members of the Board of Trustees can serve a maximum of two, two-year terms, with no compensation.

There are four candidates running for the three seats, including three nominated by the Citizens Nominating Committee to run on the Scarsdale Citizens Non-Partisan Party ticket. Two of those nominees, Kay Eisenman and Jonathan Mark, are incumbents.

Eisenman has a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, a Master of Arts degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Master of Public Administration degree from NYU's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service. She is an environmental planner for Westchester County and has served on several Scarsdale boards and committees, including 25 years with the Scarsdale Adult School.

Mark graduated from Scarsdale High School and has a BA from Dartmouth College and a law degree from Columbia University. He is a partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel.

The third member of the Scarsdale Citizens Non-Partisan Party ticket is David Lee. He is a Scarsdale High School graduate who earned his BA from Harvard College, his law degree from Columbia University and a Master of Laws in Taxation degree from New York University Law School. He has been a youth sports coach for several years, a member of the Fox Meadow Athletic Association and a trustee for Congregation Kol Ami, where he has been an officer for 12 years, including three years as co-president. He is a partner in the NYC law firm Stapper & Van Doren.

The fourth candidate, Harry Reynolds, is on the ballot representing his own Scarsdale Outs Secrecy in Elections party. A lawyer, Reynolds served on the Scarsdale Zoning Board of Appeals from 1999 to 2004.
