Scarsdale Police: Burglary Nets Jewelry, Laptop

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A laptop computer and jewelry were taken in an apparent burglary March 24 on Dickel Road in the Greenacres neighborhood, according to a Scarsdale Police Department report.

The resident reported about 8:04 p.m. that her home had been burglarized between 3 and 7:46 p.m. while the family attended a hockey game. The caller, who said she neglected to set the alarm before heading to the game, told police that three boxes of jewelry were missing from the master bedroom and the computer was taken from the kitchen.

There were no signs of forced entry. No value was listed for the missing items.

Deck chairs taken: A Rodney Road resident told police about 4:53 p.m. March 22 that someone had stolen two chairs valued at a combined $35 from her back deck.

Package missing: A Richelieu Road resident told police about 2:33 p.m. March 23 that a package was delivered to the home but, when she went to pick it up, it was gone. The woman told police the package was delivered at 11:42 a.m., but it was gone by 11:50 a.m.

Arbor damaged: A Lockwood Road woman told police about 7:49 p.m. March 23 that her garden arbor had been knocked down and broken. According to the police report, she said she discovered the damage about 10:30 p.m. March 16.

Dog bite: A U.S. Postal Service manager reported about 5:33 p.m. March 23 that one of her delivery people had been bitten by a dog while attempting a delivery to a Brewster Road home. The dog's owner was able to provide medical paperwork and a certificate showing the dog was up to date on rabies shots.

Suspicious person: A Huntington Avenue caller told police at about 12:03 a.m. March 24 that a man dressed in black was seen on private property at Huntington Avenue and Sage Terrace. The caller said when the man noticed he had been seen he fled rapidly toward Post Road.

Camera man: A Brewster Road woman told police about 3:37 p.m. March 24 that an older man in a black BMW was taking pictures of children playing in the park.

Theft: A Post Road resident told police someone had stolen the resident's cell phone worth $200 and an unknown amount of money. No other details were released.

Closet dispute: A Stratton Road couple called police to their home about 9:34 p.m. March 25. The female resident told the officer that she was having a dispute with her husband over who could store their clothes in a closet. According to the police report, the officer helped mediate the situation and the couple agreed with the solution.
