SCARSDALE, N.Y. Anyone driving through Scarsdale over the New Year's weekend should be aware that the Scarsdale Police Department plans beefed up patrols to snare drunken or otherwise impaired drivers.
Scarsdale Police have cracked down on intoxicated drivers over the past year, according to Lt. Thomas Altizio, who recently released statistics that showed 21 DWI arrests in 2011 as of Dec. 20, a 110 percent increase over 2010.
Police Chief John Brogan said the increase in arrests was not coincidental.
"During this past year the Scarsdale Police Department logged many hours of stationary roadblocks and roving patrols specifically directed at apprehending impaired or intoxicated drivers," Brogan said.
