Manhattan resident Philip Budin pleaded not guilty to second-degree attempted robbery, a violent felony, for his role in a burglary in Chappaqua last year.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino said that as part of the plea, Budin will be required to pay restitution by the time of his sentencing date on Oct. 10.
Budin and Mirabai Sheridan, of the Bronx, allegedly spotted their victim at DeCicco’s in Millwood. They then proceeded to follow her to her Pond Hill Road home in Chappaqua.
While carrying a bouquet of flowers, Sheridan approached the door of the home, armed with a gun. She forced her way inside and restrained her victim’s hands and wrists with plastic ties and stole items from the house while Budin waited in the car as a getaway driver. Scarpino noted that at the time of the first armed robbery, there was a child home.
Scarpino said that investigators from the New Castle Police Department and Westchester County District Attorney’s Office investigated the robbery, chasing a number of leads.
On Nov. 14 last year, Sheridan and Budin were found in Mamaroneck as they followed another potential victim who was shopping at a local grocery store. The two were pulled over and arrested during the traffic stop. At the time of the stop and their arrest, there was a gun inside the car.
The case against Sheridan is pending, Scarpino noted.
