There will be a pair of informal “recruiting coffees” this week at historic Wayside Cottage in Scarsdale. The first will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, with the second coming at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
At these informal sessions, current members of the league will educate prospects about the organization’s efforts to benefit Westchester County neighborhoods that are less fortunate than others.
Women of all races, religions and nationalities who are dedicated to helping others and volunteering in the community are welcome to become members. Each year, dozens of women participate in various projects to improve the lives of their neighbors. These projects include fundraising, volunteer training, neighborhood development and community communication.
“Our membership includes professional executives, stay-at-home moms and everyone in between,” Julie King, the president of the organization said.
New members will be trained during a short-term community service project. In past years, new members conducted diaper, food and goods drives for local charities. The projects are designed to benefit the community while allowing the new members to become more familiar with the organization.
“I am excited to welcome a new group of dynamic women to the JLCW who share our commitment of making a meaningful impact in our community,” King said. “I look forward to calling them my friends and working with them on many projects in the future.”
