SCARSDALE, N.Y. - John "Jack" G. Cronin, formerly of Scarsdale, died Feb. 6 after a brief hospital stay at Westchester Medical Center. He was 77.
Cronin was retired from Pfizer, Inc. and was active in the Church of St. James the Less in Scarsdale as its warden.
The son of John D. and Elizabeth Cronin, he was born Aug. 17, 1934. Raised in Scarsdale, he graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Cronin retired from Pfizer in 1997 after a long and distinguished career.
Most recently of White Plains, Cronin served as president of the Gedney Commons Homeowners Association. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, sailing and reading at the shore.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Lois Billington, his daughters Tenley (Ian Gilmore) Cronin of Watchung, N.J. and Christine (Cornelius) Gallagher of New York City, his son Douglas (Stefanie) Cronin of Newton, Mass., his brother Richard Cronin of Wenatchee, Wash. and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Church of St. James the Less. Funeral arrangements are under Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes in Scarsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of St. James the Less, 10 Church Lane, Scarsdale, NY 10583.
