Scarsdale Coloring Contest Deadline is May 14

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Pre-school and elementary-aged children who live or attend school in Scarsdale – or who are members of the Friends of Weinberg Nature Center – can enter the Friends of Weinberg Nature Center's annual coloring and computer art contest.

Entry deadline is May 14.

The contest is in conjunction with the annual spring festival at the Weinberg Nature Center, scheduled for May 20.

This year's contest will highlight all turtle species. Entries will be judged by grade and age, both of which should be noted on the back of the drawing along with the entrant's name, address and telephone number. Pre-schoolers may use a page from a coloring book, but those in grades K through five must draw the picture of the animal in its appropriate habitat on a blank, 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white paper. Original, computer artwork will also be accepted.

The judges will consider creativity, neatness, originality, attractiveness, decoration and the relation of the animal with its habitat. Entries must be received by the Recreation Department at Scarsdale Village Hall or at the Trailside Museum at the Weinberg Nature Center, 455 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale, by 5 p.m. Monday, May 14.

For more information, call the Weinberg Nature Center at (914) 722-1289, or go to the website or Facebook page.
