SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Local children will once again have the chance to bring the spooky to Scarsdale this Halloween season as the village prepares for the business district's annual window painting contest.
Children, teams and families will have the chance to paint some of the finest pumpkins, ghosts, ghouls, black cats and other spooky creatures on storefronts throughout the village on Sunday, Oct. 19.
All youth in Grades 3-10 who attend any Scarsdale school are eligible for the window painting contest. The parent-child collaborations are not officially competing and are designed for students in first and second grade. The complete list of rules can be found here.
Last year approximately 650 residents participated in the seasonal contest, including 157 individual entries, 124 team entries and 120 parent-child collaborations.
The Parks and Recreation Department is registering individual, team and family entries online. Contestants will be divided into groupings based on age at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. The deadline to register, on a first-come, first-served basis, is Monday, Oct. 13.
