  • "Modes of Narration" is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 4, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Cost: $50. For those who sometimes struggle to find the right narrative voice to tell stories, this class will focus on the different modes of narration and the intended effects between telling a story in first, second or third person. The class will look at examples of fiction and explore different narrative methods in students' own writing through prompts. All levels of writers are welcome.
  • "Setting as Character" is set for Thursday, Feb. 25, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Cost: $50. A strong sense of place is an integral part of great fiction. Whether depicting a familiar place or building a world from scratch, setting affects characters in a way that serves a purpose. Students will examine how setting becomes a character in fiction and nonfiction examples, and exercise what they've learned in class. Students can feel free to bring something they're working on or an idea, but know that this is not a requirement. All levels of writers are welcome.
