52-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Train In Region
A 52-year-old man from the Capital Region was struck and killed by a train.
The Schoharie County incident happened around 2 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, in the area of Everett Street in Cobleskill.
According to New York State Police Trooper Stephanie O'Neil, an investigation has determined Saratoga County resident Bruce B. Bidwell, age 52, of Gansevoort, was in the area of the tracks when he was struck by the passing train and severely injured.

A former corrections officer is facing years behind bars for attempting to bring a so-called ghost gun into a business in the region.
Timothy Feldman, age 22, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in Saratoga County Court on Tuesday, Oct. 17, stemming from an arrest in July 2023.
According to prosecutors, a bouncer at a Saratoga Springs bar caught Feldman, a former Schoharie County Corrections Officer, with a gun as he entered the business early on July 23, 2023.

Unwelcome Guests: Couple Squats In, Damages Vacant Capital Region Home, Police Say
A couple is facing charges after they were allegedly caught squatting in a vacant home in the region.
Troopers in Schoharie County were called to a home on Route 7 in the town of Cobleskill on Sunday evening, July 23, for a report of trespassers.
An investigation found that Melissa Johnson, age 44, and Jesus Lanauze, age 58, both of Albany, had been living in the home without permission for nearly a week, according to State Police.
The couple is also accused of damaging the home and an outbuilding.

Republicans appeared poised to win in New York’s 19th Congressional District, with Marc Molinaro seemingly on track to defeat Democrat Josh Riley early Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Molinaro, the Dutchess County executive, was leading Riley by 2.2 percentage points, 51 to 49 percent, as of early Wednesday morning, Nov. 9, with more than 95 percent of the votes in.
