Gladys Sylvia Field, 95, Longtime Rye Resident

RYE, N.Y. - Gladys Sylvia Field, a longtime resident of Rye, died Wednesday, Oct. 2. She was 95.

Field was born Sept. 19, 1918, to Solomon "Charlie" Abramson and Esther Schoenbrun Abramson in the Bronx. She graduated from Hunter College in 1939. She was married to Sidney Paul Field in 1941. She was active at the Osborn Retirement Community, where she served on many committees and performed as part of an improvisation group.

Field is survived by her daughter, Constance Elkinson of Stamford, Conn.; son, Richard Field (Kathie Hepler) of Washington, DC; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Oct. 5 at 17 Westminster Road, Stamford, Conn.
